Holi @ IITM

Holi @ IITM is one of the days where you ought to lose all inhibitions concerning human dignity, decency and let loose your animal instincts and savage tendencies. All this , of course, have to be limited to the members of your own sex.

You feel that the person ought to expose more of his skin, rip his clothes apart. You feel that one ought to see the curvature of the lower part of the waist, rip off the shorts without any second thought. Ultimately the other person will himself oblige you with a sneak peek of his naked body, which till now, arguably has been seen only by his mother.

Homo's in our college have been waiting for this day for one complete year. They have a field day caressing their hands over other people's bodies with the pretext of applying color. I will not say any further on this.

All in all, one of the most memorable days in the institute. With this being one of the last Holi's to be spent with my B.Tech friends, it couldnt get any better than this.

Assignments, Assignments, Assignments et al

One of the major disadvantages of being a dual degree student is that while your B.Tech friends are farting away to glory, you got to stay put in your room and finish the assignments before the deadline.

Here I am all frustrated.....the deadline was yesterday and I still got to finish 2 problems of an excruciatingly long and arduous assignment. I have already decided to leave a 3rd problem unfinished.

Grrr...somebody stop this nonsense......let the B.Tech guys share some of the burden. :((

One simply cant go to the professor concerned and say "Sir, with this movie being released this Saturday, and a classic old movie having been downloaded which cant just remain unseen and my interwing cricket match round the corner, i got a full schedule on my hands. Cant you accept my assignment a few days late? After all you have been there and done that". Tis a hard world we live in fellas.

Newayz.....you always hv the option of cogging from your friends who are overflowin with the grey matter. Still....you always wish to see one assignment which is the fruit of your labors solely....but it's not possible now a days. :P

Anywayz...i have decided to lay low for a while. Play a few matches on AOE, go and watch another movie.....let the assignment rot meanwhile. They can always be attended to later.

Procastination is thy nature of your's truly.

Well on Wednesday, it so happened that, after 3 days of uncertainty, I finally sat down to complete it. It took a lot of my time, many rough sheets wasted, had to go back to a few chapters in basic electronics to understand the question. I decided to bunk the very class whose assignment has to be submitted on the grounds that the quota of studying this subject this day has been completed and going to class would tantamount to a breach of my principles in dealing with academics.

Around 4:00 PM, I finally finished and submitted it. My highlight of the week. I felt youthful, rejuvenated and for the first time thought about this subject in a new light. I decided to forgo my ongoing attitude towards my acads and study them regularly. My days in IIT were not about sitting in the room all day and watch movies, play games, or for that matter, submit trash on Blogger.com.
The studies were meant to give you an insight into the complex world of Electronics. A brief glimpse of what goes on driving machines to ruthless efficieny. It was meant to encourage one to take it up as an interest and pursue it further in the later course of life....and possibly invent something that would make it even better.

I finally sat down to fart with the B.Tech friends pitying them about their plight and how they would never understand such things. Assignments made you think about the subject and made you tough in a way. It's difficult at first, but once you do it, you feel a sense of proud achievement.
Finally after giving them a lengthy discourse on the virtuosity of assignments I went back to my room and checked my inbox.

This was the first message:
